‘The Neon Garden’ sculpture is a celebration of Bradley’s love of nature. As is synonymous with all of Bradley’s floral work, she reinterprets the plants and flowers in a stylistic way. Taking inspiration from her trip to Mauritius, while visiting family, the artist mixes strong architectural lines of the tropical plants with the softer lines of her native Welsh poppies, grown in her garden.
Elements of The Neon Garden first went on show at Gallerie Melissa in London’s Covent Garden in 2017.The artist’s relationship of paper to hand is an essential part of her identity. No two sculptures are the same. The petal forms are cut by machine but always finished and moulded by hand. Bradley works into this floral sculpture by drawing into the petals and leaves with a bold black ink, giving the piece a more illustrative finish. Nature is deeply rooted in Bradley’s history coming from a family of keen gardeners. Adding the strong Neon colour, gives the piece a bold energy and stylised appearance, whilst highlighting the hand sculpted craftsmanship of the tropical flora and fauna.
