Axe and Paddle : Glass Beadwork Course

Saturday 11th January : 10 - 5pm

At the beautiful Llangathen Temperance Hall next door to Aberglasney Gardens SA32 8QD

Join our one-day glass beadwork course to take your first steps into beadwork. Whether you are interested in making simple beaded jewellery or hat bands as a hobby, an aid to mental health or as a potential source of income, this course will provide you with the basic knowledge from which to grow your own practice.

Working in a small group, the day will allow you to experience and experiment with the whole process, from designing and transferring your idea from graph paper, to making your own bead loom with natural materials and creating your patterns. The day price includes the basic tools, which you can take home to continue with after this introduction. Beadwork is an ideal craft for any spare time at home, requiring very little space or specialist equipment.

Teaching and support materials will include lists of suppliers to purchase further beads, reading suggestions and patterns to take away to try at home and tips for further development.

Steve from Axe & Paddle works full time as a primitive skills and bushcraft teacher and craftsman, based locally in Gwynfe. He teaches a range of courses and workshops from their smallholding there too - although this workshop is exclusive to Llangathen Temperance Hall!

Cost: £85pp including all materials for the day’s workshop and the basic equipment you need for the day and to take away to continue your practice
