Chris Brook was born in Sheffield, is self- taught, and has been working professionally since 1995. He now lives on the East coast of the Scottish Borders.

"My work is primarily abstract in nature, and rooted in the landscape of both rural and urban environs. My most recent work is informed through our ability to navigate our daily lives, via signs and symbols.
A shorthand visual language, offering insight, instruction, and invaluable information.
These marks and symbols often scored into the surface of the work, offer permanence and a primal simplicity in execution.
A combination of symbols, along with colour choice and title can suggest a narrative which hopefully has many connotations, and can be left open to interpretation.
My intention through considered placement is to create emotive works which have an affinity with the viewer."
