Just a quick introduction to how I became the owner/curator of Studio Cennen…
On moving back to Wales, following a thirty year career in fashion in Italy and London, and particularly to Llandeilo, I discovered a rich and vibrant community of artists and makers through friends, family and the annual Tywi Valley Open Studio arts trail. I wanted to bring them together and show off their work in a homely setting in a beautifully curated way - mixing paintings with sculpture and pottery with furniture made by wood workers. Blurring the line between art and craft.
Studio Cennen was first established as an online gallery in June 2020, following a series of very successful pop up exhibitions, called ‘Art at the Hall’, in the beautiful Temperance Hall in Llangathen near Llandeilo.
The bricks and mortar venue followed in April 2021 at the turn of the Twentieth Century boiler house, with its iconic tall chimney, of the former creamery in Ffairfach, which was lovingly restored into a bright open spaced gallery. With a series of seven successful exhibitions over the past year, Studio Cennen has quickly become a favourite gallery for many of its regular visitors. Each event showcases a new diverse group of artists and makers, with a common thread or theme running through the artworks, and are curated with a designers eye.
Each exhibition runs for about 4 weeks with a few weeks between each show for catching breath, meeting new artists in their own studios and getting ready for the next one. We run an appointment system for up to six in a group, which ensures you experience the gallery in a calm way. I am on hand to help with any queries about the artworks, and I'll make you a cuppa if you fancy.
I look forward to welcoming you to the gallery sometime soon.
