About Us
Hello,
Just a quick introduction to how I became the owner and curator of Studio Cennen…
After moving back to Wales following a thirty-year career in fashion in Italy and London, I settled in Llandeilo and discovered a rich, vibrant community of artists and makers. Through friends, family, and the annual Tywi Valley Open Studios arts trail, I was inspired to bring these creatives together and showcase their work in a homely, thoughtfully curated setting—where paintings sit alongside sculpture, and pottery complements handcrafted furniture. A space where the line between art and craft is gently blurred.
Studio Cennen began as an online gallery in June 2020, following a series of very successful pop-up exhibitions titled Art at the Hall, held in the beautiful Temperance Hall in Llangathen, near Llandeilo.
In April 2021, this evolved into a permanent gallery space, housed in the beautifully restored turn-of-the-twentieth-century boiler house of the former creamery in Ffairfach, complete with its iconic tall chimney. The building has been lovingly transformed into a bright, open gallery space.
With a series of successful exhibitions over the past year, Studio Cennen has quickly become a favourite destination for many returning visitors. Each exhibition brings together a diverse group of artists and makers, united by a subtle theme and curated with a designer’s eye.
Exhibitions typically run for around six weeks, with short breaks in between—time to pause, visit artists in their own studios, and prepare for the next show. The gallery is open every Saturday from 12 noon to 5pm during each exhibition, with visits on other days available by appointment at a time to suit you, ensuring a calm and personal experience. I’m always on hand to answer any questions about the work—and to make you a cup of tea or coffee if you’d like one.
I look forward to welcoming you to the gallery soon.
