My still life paintings show the meeting of outside items with the domestic interior. I want to turn solemn tabletops into altars where we can showcase the small miracles to be found in nature. A further dimension is added by including much loved vintage home wares.
I'm depicting intimate settings laden with the power to soothe. I want to make paintings that will invite contemplation and joy. I don't have any symbolist ambitions to declare! Many of the paintings will, however, have things to say to the viewer.
I'm very influenced by the seasons, by travels and of course, by the tradition of colourists. I have many influences from art, but the main inspiration comes from the abundance of wonder to be seen around us.
