My paintings do not set out to be precise representations: they are internal and external expressions of experience elicited by the painting process. 

Light, colour, experience, the spirit of a place and transitory moments of wonder expressed in paint and developed through the painting process inspire the work. 

I paint out on location whenever I can, energised by the elements, light, colour and the changing seasons. Works are charged with connection, time and memory.   

The works have been described as poems in paint.
