Originally designed as an eating bowl for children, the bowl has a strong rim and comforting lugs. It is a lovely shape to hold in the hand, suitable for breakfast or soup. The Shino glaze gives deep warm orange with a strong iron speckle. The rim is decorated with iron oxide which has turned nearly black with a slight texture.
