Collection: Carole Hovey : Painter : Narberth

These new works are inspired by the seascape and coastline of Pembrokeshire.They are my response to the pure energy and positive charge created by waves crashing on the geology of the coastal rocks. This energy, in turn, makes its own liminal space.

I work by documenting the immediate visual impactprovided by my subject. I make several sketches with colourreferences, complemented by photographic images. These I take back to my studio and I then start work on the final pieces.

I have explored a range of materials to reveal better the differing aspects of the ocean- scape. These help to clarify the various facets of the ‘Sublime’ in its relation to the struggle between land and sea.
