Returning to Athens, the city of my birth, rekindled memories of place and belonging. Alongside a visit to the Gwen John exhibition in Cardiff, the journey inspired a new series of Greek portraits. The blue in the background alludes to the Aegean Sea, while figs and flowers evoke the sensory richness of Mediterranean summers.
