Simone’s work is primarily sculptural and although not allied to any particular medium, it often incorporates cast elements in both bronze and iron. 

The idea that one material can be transformed into another (altering both its materiality and meaning) provides Simone with a constant source of excitement and fascination,

“…when cloth or lace become iron, or a swan’s feather becomes bronze, it transforms the object, thus removing the familiarity, and revealing the hidden layers of meaning that we (often unconsciously) attribute to everyday objects.”

In brief, Simone’s work explores the cultural and mythological significance that we impose upon the artifacts that make up the fabric of our world.
