Footed tea cup by local potter Tim Lake c.2017

Tenmuko glaze wood fired stoneware. 

In Japan these cups are called 'Yunomi' and are everyday drinking cups. They have a tall foot to hold while the body of the cup is too hot to grip. You can hold the cup by the rim and foot and then wait for your chosen drink to come to a drinkable temperature and then they are lovely clasp in your hands.

Thrown and turned from a self made iron rich clay blend, brushed white slip and a tenmuko glaze.

Tim joined us for a few exhibitions at Llangathen Hall. I first met Tim at the Tywi Valley Open Studios back in 2017 and asked him to join us for the ‘Wood and Wool’ exhibition @art_at_the_hall  in 2017. I developed a pot stand especially for his pieces. His display looked fantastic and his pieces were picked up by Jessica Seaton, the founder of Toast. Tim went on to become one of their featured potters. I also introduced his work to Maryann at Wrights food emporium, we started selling his work there. He also developed a range of serving dishes for their Tapas range.
