Collection: Odyn Ddu Ceramics meets Puple Sue

The inspiration for these sculptures began from the moment Odyn Ddu and Purple Sue were reunited after thirty years apart following their time spent in Central St Martins sculpture school in London. It seemed to be fate as they are now living just around the corner from each other in St Nicholas, North Pembrokeshire.

There was a lot of enthusiastic chatting, then finally the idea of creating a piece which would combine both disciplines, clay and metal, as a vessel to hold water for the creatures in our gardens.

Odyn Ddu's love of clay is evident and the freer forms, mark-making and glazes are made while she responds to the rhythm and tempo of musical moments.

Purple Sue responds to these forms in a similar way. The metal is twisted and turned and welded, creating a structure which works in harmony but with a playfulness around the vessel and her passion for colour is there too. Who knows what's next ....
