Pickled Oak Highback Chair

Inspired from the Welsh stick chairs , this chair has a deeply Adzed seat along side the legs and stretchers that have been shaped with the axe and drawknife. Pickled throughout, this technique is utilising the tannic acids in the Oak - using the Iron and acetic acid of wire wool and vinegar mixed together into a solution which is applied to the surface - the wood dries to the dark colour . A couple of applications of oil is then applied.
