Jarvfjallet is inspired by a song in which the singer oscillates between staying in and leaving a romantic relationship, pleading for the other to make an offer he cannot refuse. By setting unrealistic demands, he frames leaving as a mutual decision rather than abandonment.
The sculpture embodies the bargaining and negotiation that occur at the end of a relationship. Gold references the most precious parts of oneself spilling out—emotions here become currency. In the song, the partner is evoked as waters the singer can no longer drink, representing the loss of fundamental nourishment—a theme echoed by the dark metallic oxides at the centre of the work.
The piece grows from its shadowy core toward light, while some parts remain turned inward, reluctant to leave their current state. As it stretches toward illumination, it lightens and emerges from the darkness, becoming itself through personal upheaval.
