Collection: Helen Belton : Painter : Mumbles

I’m interested in the relationship between land, air and water; the blurred or sharp edges where they meet, how one can change another and how immersive seemingly unremarkable landscapes can be with time spent in them.

Primarily working on large canvases in oil, these smaller studies in ink are a new thread to my work and have come about by working en plein air. 

Working at this scale has given me a new freedom of expression in the form of mark making, working with the soft fluidity of the ink and creating monochrome imagery.
