Bethan's work is an expression of line and process: the way the eye is drawn to the silhouette and the inside shape created. Wood ash and salt are used to create changes in the glazes that break and change across the pot.

While the pots are for everyday use, they are tactile and have structural elements. Each pot has individual qualities and people often treasure their pieces over the years as ‘a favourite mug’ or ‘a favourite breakfast bowl’.  

The process of making, glazing and then firing is a long process, each step has its own challenges which all lead to the deeply rewarding moment of opening the kiln door after the final firing and finding a rare beauty smiling back at you.
