Much of my work has a personal, autobiographical meaning to it. This piece is no exception but I won’t bore you with the intricacies of it at this point. In a nutshell, Cheery Bye is about saying goodbye to a loved one and wishing them the most gentle of journeys. It plays on the nostalgia of an old sewing box, symbolising repairing relationships and echoes the familiar comfort of the past.
