Jackie Shackson : Painter : Llangrannog

January for me is a time for hibernation, as the weather is rarely ‘permitting’ I tend to stay close to home.  I am lucky to be surrounded by fields and trees and my paintings for Still:Life were inspired by a small copse of Blackthorns I view from my studio each day.  At this time of year I love the way the low winter sun sends rays of light through the blackthorn, illuminating the rusty red bracken and throwing patterns across the tree trunks.  As I stand in this tiny forest taking photos my own shadow adds to the play of light and dark.
