Part of my latest series, inspired by the haiku poetry by Stella Pierides.
Haiku poems are the shortest form of poetry, and yet, in a few words for me they conjure up stories, memories, associations, desires and images that inform not only my work, but also the way in which I work. My latest paintings are painted on cradled wood panels which allow for much more of the push and pull in my way of working. Adding layers and taking back layers to create depth and atmosphere that resonates with the poem.
The edges are painted black to frame and compliment the painting.
Oil, oil pastel, oil stick and wax on cradled wood panel.
