"I have always been interested in the juxtaposition of shape, texture and line and the endless possibilities that can be reached by combining these three simple things.

I studied Illustration at Falmouth in Cornwall, followed by a number of years in Bristol before returning to Cornwall to train in Glass-blowing, a craft that has been in my family all my life.  A wonderful opportunity to learn a historic craft, being taught by my Dad, and become totally immersed in the process of making.

Through experimentation I discovered an affinity with textiles.  Specifically freehand, improvised, contemporary patchwork and textile collage.  Here I found I could combine all the elements that drive me to want to make; texture, line and shape.  I can incorprate printmaking and experiment with mixing materials to create texture, use stitch to draw and endlessly play with shape and composition.

Inspiration comes from everywhere and anywhere.  Within my work I am not trying to depict anything specifically but sometimes I can see hints and elements of landscape and architecture in a piece.  A lot of my current practice focusses on the process and the need I feel within me to create and experiment."
