Pencil was used to create the sgraffito effect, the textured lines showing the surface layer below the paint.
There is no black in this painting. I used burnt umber, which is a dark brown, alizarin crimson and French ultramarine (a blue shade) to create the
'black'. It feels like an enchanted forest. The title is a play on words of the colours and the woods.
